Katherine P. Mead

Katherine P. Mead, of Atwood Rd., Moravia, passed away following a lengthy illness on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the age of 76.

A lifelong area resident, she was born August 20, 1940, a daughter of the late Carl and Helen Case Potter.

Katherine was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the many years she spent working on the family farm and raising her children. Katherine was a former Cub Scout leader and a member of the Sempronius Fire Auxiliary.

Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Francis Mead; four sons, Ricky Mead of TN; Michael and John (Holly) Mead both of Moravia and David (Tracy) Mead of Groton; four grandchildren, Matthew Matijas; Austin, Cassandra and Garrett Mead. Also surviving is her brother, Ron Potter of Cortland and two sisters, Rose Wells of Truxton and Mary (Ed) Wilcox of Little York.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. Interment will follow in Atwater Cemetery, Homer.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
