I got to know Gary many years ago, when he needed the light bulbs changed on the Cortland High School Field. The poles were 120' and I was a lineman that could climb and change the lights. For many years I would get ready for football changing the burned out lights, and some pyrex lenses, bulbs were 1500watts.... We got to be good friends. He did a great job for Cortland Schools. Gary helped me when I was on the Virgil Town Board to get the land back from the City School District. That land was part of the old Virgil District..Now it is where the Virgil Town Hall and Walking Trail is, thanks Gary!!! Sandra and Gary my sincere condolences it was my pleasure to have known Gary ! I wish I could have been at the funeral today. I will have fond memories of Gary. Regards, Jim Murphy (Virgil)

Dear Sandy, Bob and I are saddened reading about Gary's passing. He suffered a long time. We want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and glad that you are near your son for support and strength. We miss seeing you on Levydale. Seems strange you don't live there any more. I didn't have your new address so this is the only way I could offer our condolences. Take care.

My deepest prayers for all of the family. Gary was a great person, a wonderful father to Gary A., a wonderful father-in-law to my daughter Lisa and great grandfather to my grandsons Matthew and Gary Fred. You will be truly missed but you are with God now and no longer in pain.

My uncle was one of those people that would take the shirt off his back if you needed it, but was still there for every holiday smiling and making all the kids laugh. We will greatly miss you, but we are glad you are not in pain any more. We love and miss you !
