Consuelo A. ‘Connie’ Berry, 93, of Homer, passed away while under the care of Hospice and her loving family on Thursday, January 18, 2018.
She was born May 12, 1924 in New York City, a daughter of the late Nelson and Anna Santana Lines.
Shortly after high school Connie enlisted in the United States Navy, serving with the WAVES from 1944-1945. It was in the Navy that she met her future husband, Gilbert Berry.
Gilbert and Connie moved to Homer from Missouri in 1958 and shortly after started Berry’s Milling. Connie continued to operate the business after Gilbert died 1980, until her retirement in 1987.
She was a longtime and faithful member of the former Homer Baptist Church.
Surviving are five sons, Kenneth J. (Ann) Berry of St. Louis, MO; Steven R. (Beverly) Berry of Homer; James E. (Chris) Berry of Tecumseh, MI; Michael A. (Mandy) Berry of Homer and Phillip M. (Martha) Berry of McFarland, WI; a brother, Fred (Nada) Lines of Puerto Rico; her sister, Carmen del Pilar (Bill) Lancellotti of Williamsburg, VA; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery will be delayed until spring.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
