Jack B. Smith, 92, of Glenside Dr., Moravia, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 following complications of pneumonia.
He was born January 8, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI, a son of the late Bart and Clara Pinnau Smith. Shortly after his birth the family relocated to Sempronius, where Jack worked on his father’s farm and later for the Town’s highway maintenance department.
Jack faithfully served his country as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army, serving in the European Theatre.
He retired in 1985 from Smith Corona (SCM) after 27 years of employment as a final repairman.
Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Dorothy Atkins Smith; his son, Will Smith of Schenectady; daughter, Roma (wife of Ray “Toad”) Morris of Moravia; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and three siblings.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Fiorille, four siblings, and two great grandchildren.
In keeping with Jack's wishes, there will be no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Atwater Cemetery on Rt. 41, Homer.
